One of my Best Friends loves fish…..and has a birthday in March. This year I made up my mind to make her one of Ben Kwok’s awesome templates. I’m very happy with how it turned out and she loved it. And this morning it’s featured over on a group at Redbubble – a really nice way to start out my Monday and week.
I had two more sheep to make to complete the calendar for 2015 (not to mention ideas for the next calendar, but they’ll happen in 2015) and one of them was this Happy New Year to Ewe.
I’m glad I was able to get them done – the last one was a St. Patrick’s Day sheep….stay tuned for that post. Of course it didn’t help that I came down sick on Sunday – fever, cough and now a doctors visit today. I know if I don’t go, I’ll be wishing I did around Christmas morning. I hear this is going around like crazy, whatever “IT” is, but I’m just hoping to start feeling better as quickly as it came up on me. This just goes to show – no matter how much I take vitamins, how much I wash my hands, those sneaky little germs get through. Grrrrr!
I hope you have a lovely, healthy, happy, Merry Christmas!
ETA: Just had my first rude comment since I started this here blog, so I guess I’ve been quite fortunate. For those of you who enjoy reading, seeing the art work – thanks for sticking around. If you don’t, just move on. I don’t tolerate rude, non-constructive comments. You’re basically just saying something for the sake of being mean. You don’t have to like the blog, my art or anything I do. And you certainly don’t have to stick around and see anymore. Carry on and Happy Holidays.
My newest addition to my Sheep Tangles…..
I really, really wanted to get my calendar up on Redbubble….I’m not giving up hope yet…two more specific sheepy tangles to go – stay tuned!
First, I’d like to say thanks for sticking with me on the ole blog here….I know through the years I’ve been through many facets of creativity…and some of you have taken the ride with me – thanks for taking the time to read, to comment, to follow, to like….it’s much appreciated.
I still knit…that has been my constant for longer than anything else. Right now, I”m focused on my art. One reason is….I’ve spent a great deal of time telling myself that I’m not possibly talented enough to DO art. To call myself an artist. But I always wanted to BE an artist. Well, darn it….I’m calling myself one now. Maybe it’s age, maybe it’s getting a little self confidence, or maybe it’s just realizing you can BE anything you want to be. Someone, somewhere out there is probably going to see what you wanted them to see and like it. The other reason…..I’ve got a goal. Something I’m working towards.
I’ve had some of my work actually sell. That’s a biggie for me. First…it’s hard for me to let go of things. And second….it’s hard for me to let go of things. I am used to people buying my jewelry but the artwork…..that is just so personal to me. I’m getting better at it and really, it’s kind of a necessity if you want people to have your art, right?
That being said….I’ve put a lot of my work out there. On Redbubble…you can find all my drawings and some of my photography. On my Etsy shop, you’ll find my sheep, my Tangled Whorls and odds and ends…..I’m putting it all out there. I’m doing an art show in a few weeks time. All this is working towards the goal of attending and becoming a Certified Zentangle Teacher – yep, as soon as the class registrations open I’m signing up. It’s a bunch of money, but I’m putting nearly everything I make towards it. So when I say thank you, it’s not just for reading this blog, commenting, liking. It’s because you’ve been nice enough to take the time and look at my work, possibly buying a card or a print or a tote bag. You’re getting ready for the Holidays and if something you give someone is something I made – well…..I couldn’t be more honored. And appreciative. And so very, very thankful for your help! It’s you taking the time to shop and look at my work that’s allowing me to realize my Goal….a dream really, and that is to teach all that I’ve been lucky enough to be doing in the world of Zentangle…..I can’t wait!
I do…it’s my favorite time of year. Today was the perfect day to sit down and complete this lastest Sheep in the Flock…
Do you Love Fall, available on Redbubble in prints, cards, totes, stickers etc…go on and have a look.
I’ve wanted to get to this for a bit now – the sketch has been done for a while, but I’ve been busily preparing for that Christmas show. I have two winter sheep ready to ink – one for the Holidays and one representing winter. I’m hoping to get a Calendar done by mid-November. Fingers crossed.
And a little public service announcement. You know you’ve seen me mention Tanglepatterns.com….well it’s that time of year – the Annual Request for Assistance. It’s a much loved resource for many, many people and Linda needs our help to keep it going. You know, she runs that place by herself! So go on over and see what you can do to help out – and spread the word – I know it’s the first place I recommend to anyone who wants to get started in Zentangle and I know others do the same – lets keep it going. Every bit counts!
Redbubble is having a 15% off sitewide sale! Now’s the time to order those cards, prints, tote bags and gifts you’ve been holding off on…..
Sheep and more in my Redbubble Shop
Get started on that holiday shopping – it’s really not that far away!
I love tangling these chubby little birds…..
Once again, a fun template by Ben Kwok. I did add in the stump. This is the first bird I think I get to keep….so far. I’m thrilled to be able to sell some of my work, it’s taken a while for me to be confident enough to do that. I’m definitely taking my work more seriously now. I’ve recently revived my Redbubble account and posted some of my Zentangle Inspired Art there. I had a Cafe Press account for about 15 minutes, but deleted it after I read somewhere that the quality of their products isn’t that great. I’ve looked at Zazzle, but I’d love to hear where you all have your art – are you happy with the quality of the products your images are put on?
Another thing I’ve been thinking about lately is where I do the bulk of my work. I actually sit on the couch, using the arm of it to lean my sketchpad on. I have an ott light and I can be quite comfortable there for awhile. Where do you work? Desk? Table? Dedicated Drawing Table? I’d love to hear it.
Finishing this little guy has left me without an active bigger project, but never fear….I took one of my small sketchbooks and pre-drew the first 65 strings from Linda Farmers site, Tanglepatterns.com. And there is always the Diva’s Weekly Challenge. This week is using two of my favorite tangles, Auraknot and Mooka.
What are you tangling this week? Leave me a comment, I would love to look at your work!
