My intent was to use my new, Big Box of 64 Gelly Rolls to color this in. But while I was sorting the new, Big Box of 64 Gelly Rolls and making the color chart they conveniently give you……I saw how maybe I wouldn’t be able to control the amount of color I was putting down.
So I chickened out.
I decided to still use color, but dug into my Irotijen colored pencils and my little jar of mineral spirits instead.
When I tell you the colors are “off” believe me. There is more coral in that then is showing and for the life of me I cannot edit it to have it show. Sigh. The original is so much richer and not as neony. I’m not sure if I will regularly be adding color to my work, but this was a nice change. And it really is more time consuming….before I knew it, 4 o’clock had rolled around.
So I have a few editing programs – inkscape, gimp, paintshop pro…….any recommendation, tips, techniques, out and out yelling at me to do this or do that??? I’ll take it. This was so frustrating to try to get an accurate representation of, I gave up. pfffft! Obviously I don’t know how to use any of the programs I have to do what I want. Very different for me from editing photos.
Have a Wonderful Weekend and Happy Doodling!
I drew this with the intent of adding some color…..but I’m such a chicken. Uploaded and saved this Black Pen version because, well, I’m a chicken.
Flowing Flowers, on Redbubble
Whenever I upload something on Redbubble, I end up disabling a few products, but this time, I let ‘er rip…..and this really looks so nice on the Pillow. I might have to get that myself.
Our Facebook Group is really taking off – we are close to 250 members already and I’m polling to see how many of the members want the group to convert to closed. (the group will always accept new members, just limits what non-members can see) Come on over and join us – we are such an inspiring, supportive group and it’s a great place to get started!
The summer is quickly coming to a close….I don’t know if I’m ready to get back to the routine!
We were close to Glacier National Park and the road followed a river on the way into the Going to the Sun Road – my husband noticed an Eagle flying along the river – I wish I could have been fast enough to get a photo of it, but it turned out we saw a few Eagles on our trip and most of them were flying along the rivers. I’m trying to cormemmorate our trip in my drawings and this is the latest….

Another fun template to work on from Ben Kwok. I really enjoyed this, and I can’t recommend his templates enough, in case you haven’t noticed.
I’m preparing some of my work for a show we are doing in September – I’m so new to selling my work, and I would really appreciate any tips you have for packaging, mounting etc. Some I plan to frame and other’s I have archival plastic sleeves to put them in, but they need something to beef them up so the work doesn’t bend. Help?
I’ve mentioned we just came back from a three week trip camping out West, seeing our Amazing Country.
Ewe Love Camping
I couldn’t help it. I had to draw this. And I have another in the works for those sheep who don’t want the hassle of towing a trailer :)
And Join Us at For the Love of Doodling! We are growing quickly!
I’m almost through the Derwent Academy Master Class…..
This was my drawing for Class 4 with colored pencils. Next up? Watercolor Pan….I do love working with watercolors so this should be fun. Then there is the last class on Oil Pastels and I’ll be done!
I’m also working on Tangling my messenger bag….
I hate when I get Tangle-Block….but it’s coming along and I’ve gotten a little further than this photo shows. Sometimes I think I get too many patterns in my head and then I just don’t know what to choose. I may order a larger bag to do as well – this one isn’t very big and I had originally wanted it to tote all my tangling stuff when we go away….this will never fit it all, but it will make a nice everyday bag. I’m using an Everest Messenger Bag in Khakhi and Pentel Gel Roller for Fabric which works really, really well on this. Not my idea at all – I’ve seen two of them posted on the Zentanglers Mutual Inspiration Society on Facebook and they are just beautiful.
Someone said “if you make a sheep with a peace sign, I’m so buying that”….

That was actually not even a thought in my mind, but once she mentioned it, I had to draw it out. I was nervous about it, wondering if I had got it right for her and was thrilled when she liked it so much she purchased a few things from the redbubble shop with this design! That really is a confidence boost for me.
We had a quiet Fourth – ran some errands, caught up on stuff around here, had a de-licious dinner together. We are usually traveling by the time the Fourth of July rolls around, so this was different for us.
Just in case all you think I do is Sheep now…..
Tangled Peacock, from a Ben Kwok Template.
I loved working on this as it was challenging and fun at the same time. I might do another in color after I make my way through the Derwent Academy Master Class – there is a class on colored pencil that I think will unlock some doors for me. By the way, if you take this free course, which consists of 6 classes, you get to pick your choice of Derwent pencils for FREE and a certificate. Did I say this was all FREE….you submit your class work at the end of each class and then you’ll hear back from them when you can go on to the next. I’m on the second class and I’m waiting to hear back – they seem to be fairly quick about it. From their main page you click on the “Art Academy” circle at the top and go from there.
Enjoy the weekend!
